The second entry in the Godzilla anime trilogy hasn’t hit US shores yet – Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle hits Japanese theaters tomorrow – and already promotions for the third entry are hitting Japanese social media accounts. What makes them stand out is not just the anticipated release date of this November but the design which suggests that Ghidorah will play a significant role in the finale.
Courtesy of thebigbadben90 on Twitter, we see a poster with three flaming objects that intertwine amongst themselves. Towards the bottom, what looks like three heads can be made out. Additionally, the Twitter user comments, “If my translation is correct, the title of the movie is called ‘Godzilla: Eater of Stars.’”
If this is correct, here is the trilogy of names in order: Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters, Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle, and, lastly, Godzilla: Eater of Stars. Quite the impressive list of names, it must be said.
My own impression of the first film wasn’t all that good. That being said, I did say that the ending of the first film piqued my interest of what’s to come and the possibility of Godzilla facing off against both Mecha-Godzilla (confirmed to be in the second film) and Ghidorah is just too good! Fingers crossed this plays out as we hope!
